Canon EOS Digital SDK

The macOS build includes Canon's EDSDK so the app can drive Canon bodies over USB. EDSDK remains Canon's property and is used under the terms accepted when the SDK was obtained from Canon.

Independent JPEG Group

Canon's SDK documentation records that EDSDK is based in part on the work of the Independent JPEG Group, and the IJG licence asks that this be said plainly wherever only executable code is distributed. So, plainly:

This software is based in part on the work of the Independent JPEG Group.

The same licence asks that its authors' names not be used in advertising, and that the software be referred to only as "the Independent JPEG Group's software". Neither appears anywhere in PopStudio's marketing.

Nikon

Where the Nikon module is present it is used under the terms accepted when that SDK was obtained from Nikon, and remains Nikon's property.

Sony Camera Remote SDK

The macOS build includes Sony's Camera Remote SDK so the app can drive Sony bodies over USB. It remains Sony's property and is used under the terms accepted when the SDK was obtained from Sony. Sony's package bundles two open-source libraries, shipped unmodified: libusb, under the LGPL‑2.1 as a replaceable dynamic library, and libssh2, under the BSD‑3‑Clause licence, whose copyright notice ships with the app in THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt.

Electron and open-source packages

The app is built on Electron, Node.js and a set of open-source npm packages, each under its own licence. Ask us and we will send the full list with licence texts, generated from the lockfile.

The photos themselves

None of this affects who owns the photographs. They belong to whoever took them, and the guest's copy is theirs. Nothing here gives us, Canon, Nikon or anyone else a claim over an image made at your event. The Terms say the same thing.
